All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi - Overview
Established in 1956 as an Institution of National Importance by an Act of Parliament, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi, or AIIMS Delhi, consistently secures the first rank for the sixth consecutive time in the NIRF 2023 Ranking under the 'Medical' category. It also holds the 6th and 8th positions under the 'Overall' and 'Research' categories, respectively. AIIMS Delhi is known for offering medical and para-medical courses at both UG and PG levels. The institute operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and is governed by the AIIMS Act, 1956. With an overall bedding capacity of 2,500+, AIIMS Delhi was the first institute of this group to be established in India.
