Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) – Overview
Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, was established in 1985 and is recognized as a deemed-to-be university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. The university has gained strong academic recognition and was ranked among the top engineering institutions, securing the 28th position for its B.Tech programme by The Week Ranking 2024.
HITS offers a wide range of academic programmes including undergraduate, integrated, postgraduate, diploma, postgraduate diploma, M.Phil., and Ph.D. courses across engineering, management, science, arts, and design disciplines. Admissions to B.Tech programmes are conducted through the university’s entrance examination known as HITSEEE.
The university provides multiple scholarship opportunities such as Pragati Scholarship, AICTE–Swanath Scholarship, and Saksham Scholarship, based on merit, financial background, sports quota, and employee ward categories.
According to the HITS Placement Report 2024, the university recorded an average package of INR 5 LPA and a highest package of INR 47 LPA. Major recruiters include Boeing, Indigo, AirAsia, TCS, Cognizant, and Wipro.

Age Limit
Candidates must have attained the age of 16 years and 6 months as on 31 July of the academic year in which the Class XII examination is held to appear for HITSEEE 2026.
