SRM University, Chennai Scholarships

Scholarships are available from the SRM Institute of Science and Technology to worthy and deserving candidates. A transparent, merit-based process underlies the scholarship programme. SRMIST officials and academicians who comprise the scholarship committee will handle the process. 

According to the official website of SRM IST, there are different types of scholarships available for students, such as:

• Founder's Scholarship: This is the most prestigious scholarship that covers 100% tuition fee waiver, hostel and mess fee waiver, and a monthly stipend of Rs. 1000 for top rankers in national and state level entrance exams, sportspersons, and socio-economically disadvantaged students.

• Merit Scholarship: This is based on the academic performance of the students in the qualifying examination or entrance test. The percentage of tuition fee waivers ranges from 25% to 100%, depending on the rank or score obtained by the students.

• Chancellor Constituency Scholarship: This is a special scholarship for students from Andhra Pradesh who have secured admission in SRM IST through SRMJEEE or JEE Main. The scholarship covers a 35% tuition fee waiver for all four years of the B.Tech. program.

• Employee Ward Scholarship: This is for the children of SRM IST employees who have completed at least three years of service in the institution. The scholarship covers a 50% tuition fee waiver for all programs except MBBS, BDS, BASLP, B.Pharm., and Pharm.D.

• Alumni Scholarship: This is for the children of SRM IST alumni who have graduated from any program of the institution. The scholarship covers a 10% tuition fee waiver for all programs except MBBS, BDS, BASLP, B.Pharm., and Pharm.D.

• Socio-Economic Scholarship: This is for the students who belong to economically weaker sections of society and have a family income less than Rs. 4 lakhs per annum. The scholarship covers a 25% to 100% tuition fee waiver, depending on the income certificate submitted by the students.

• Unnat Bharat Abhiyan: This is a scheme initiated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to promote rural development through higher education institutions. SRM IST has adopted five villages under this scheme and provides free education to the students from these villages.

• Differently Abled Scholarship: This is for students who have any physical disability or impairment that affects their normal functioning. The scholarship covers a 25% to 100% tuition fee waiver, depending on the degree of disability certified by a medical board.

• SRM Arts and Culture Scholarship: This is for students who have excelled in arts and culture activities at the state or national level. The scholarship covers a 25% to 100% tuition fee waiver, depending on the level of achievement verified by a committee.

• Performance-Based Scholarship: This is for students who have shown consistent academic excellence throughout their course of study at SRM IST. The scholarship covers a 10% to 25% tuition fee waiver, depending on the CGPA obtained by the students at the end of each academic year.

• Defence Scholarship: This is for the children of defence personnel who have served or are serving in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force. The scholarship covers a 25% tuition fee waiver for all programs except MBBS, BDS, BASLP, B.Pharm., and Pharm.D.
