Vel Tech Mahatma Gandhi National Merit Scholarship

The Vel Tech Mahatma Gandhi National Merit Scholarship was instituted by Col. Prof. Vel. Dr. R. Rangarajan, Founder Chancellor & President, and Dr. Mrs. Sagunthala Rangarajan, Foundress President, with the primary objective of supporting meritorious students irrespective of their financial background. All programmes covered under this scheme are approved by AICTE.

Scholarship Coverage & Applicability

• Applicable exclusively to B.Tech programmes.
• Scholarship is provided as a tuition fee waiver.
• Offered based on MPC Aggregate or VTUEEE Rank.
• Scholarship percentage is decided at the time of admission.

Eligibility & General Guidelines

• Minimum eligibility: 60% aggregate in MPC is mandatory to avail any scholarship.
• Candidates can avail the higher scholarship calculated based on MPC aggregate or VTUEEE rank, whichever is beneficial.
• Scholarship is applicable only after successful admission confirmation.
• Scholarship is limited to tuition fees only; hostel, transport, and other charges are excluded.
• Scholarship is subject to continuation rules as prescribed by the University.

Continuation & Renewal Criteria

• Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years is based on academic performance.
• Students must maintain the minimum academic standards and discipline as defined by University regulations.
• Failure to meet academic or conduct requirements may result in withdrawal of the scholarship.

Since its inception in 2009, Vel Tech has awarded over 9,500 scholarships amounting to approximately ₹35 Crore, benefiting students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and fostering a culture of merit-based education.
