Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), formerly known as Sathyabama University, is a renowned private deemed-to-be university located in Jeppiaar Nagar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Established in 1987, the institution has developed into one of the leading STEM-focused universities in India. The university has been recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has received the prestigious ‘A++’ grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). In addition, the institution has also been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and has received ISO 9001:2008 certification for maintaining high standards in education and academic administration.
SIST operates under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 and has been categorized as a Category I University by the UGC under the Graded Autonomy Regulations, 2018. One of its landmark achievements was the launch of “SATHYABAMASAT” on 22 June 2016 in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), marking a significant milestone in the institution's contribution to space research and technological innovation.
